"In early 2009 the new Regulation regarding the approval of the plant protection products was voted, replacing Directive 91/414, in addition to the Directive-Framework for their sustainable use.
The new Regulation (1107/2009) forms a common framework of rules for the approvals in all 27 Member-States, a framework which did preexist, but is now becoming stricter.
Furthermore, through the Directive-Framework for the sustainable use, attention is paid at the product use apart from the rules concerning circulation approval. Thus, an institutional framework is established that includes continuous farmers' training, along with the training of all the people involved at the process of trade-distribution-use of plant protection products, as well as control of procedures, spraying machines e.tc.
Whereas, through the national action programs, the aim is to minimize the potential dangers for the user, the consumer and the environment, the obligation to implement product stewardship is also incorporated, meaning monitoring the product throughout its use and up to the disposal of any wastes.EPSILON has the ability to undertake all procedures for product approval. It oversees the entire process, prepares and fills in all necessary documents while it contacts the corresponding ministry per each country in order to expedite the product registration procedure.
